This project included construction of a 182 MGD solids dewatering facility with a design capacity to accommodate solids produced from an average/peak flow of 150/192 MGD. A new sludge transfer pump station was constructed at the central plant, consisting of wet wells for primary and thickened waste activated sludge, six processing cavity pumps and associated piping and controls, covered with a sun shade. The transmission pipelines cross under the Las Vegas wash via micro-tunneling. In addition to the sludge pipelines, there are centrate, sanitary sewer, water, reclaimed water and electrical lines installed between the pumping and dewatering facilities. The Solids Dewatering Facility includes two 376,000 gallon storage tanks for primary and thickened waste activated sludge, cavity centrifuge feed pumps, eight high solids centrifuges and a dewatered cake conveyance system.
